KMicro Enhances Support Capabilities

Microsoft is taking another shot at a mobile friendly OS

Earlier this month Microsoft announced its intention to launch an app based OS similar to Windows RT, called Windows 10S.

The RT operating system was a huge bust, leaving users with apps that paled in comparison to their desktop versions. The short lifespan of Windows 8 showed that Microsoft would put this on the backburner until a solution could be found to run the OS on mobile processors that could handle the load.

When it comes down to it, Microsoft is hoping to carve out a space that challenges Apple on the mobile front with slim-profile devices and tablets. It will have to rely on partnerships with HP, Lenovo, and ASUS as well as LTE carriers to fully deliver products that are capable of competing.

KMicro Receives Official Recognition for HIPAA/HITECH Compliance

Irvine, CA- 5/15/2017 – Southern California IT service provider, KMicro, has been gearing itself to assist clients in defending their systems from malicious attacks and security breaches. The Irvine based MSP already boasts a SSAE 16 SOC 2 Type II certification and offers Security service packages that can range from baseline monitoring to a fully managed unified security platform.

After going through a comprehensive evaluation process earlier this year, the official documents have been completed, recognizing KMicro for a “Superior Score” for HIPAA/HI TECH Compliance.

With the added certification, KMicro is now equipped to provide an even deeper level of expertise and support for organizations looking to protect their HIPAA sensitive data. CEO, Sam Balooch, added that “We’re very excited about this recognition. With the recent emergence of the “WannaCry” exploit, the importance of having an active security practice is further highlighted and KMicro is now poised to assist companies who handle this extremely sensitive type of data.”

It Was Only A Matter Of Time

The IT Security community is buzzing with reports of a massive outbreak of ransomware by the name “WannaCry.” The exploit comes in the form of a worm that breaches systems through a vulnerability within Microsoft’s XP operating system and Windows SMB Server.

While this shouldn’t be a concern for most organizations who have kept current with Microsoft’s upgrade path through Windows 7, 8, and now 10, legacy applications being kept around that still run the unsupported OS should be turned off and/or patched immediately.
